THE KING'S TOURNEY

One by one, combatants fell - or relented - to their opponents. The day deepened and winter's chill threatened to return when the imminent cape of night descended upon the mountain. For now, daylight held strong for the near-last warriors to return to the ring.

Hours had droned by since the battles first began, yet the fervor of the crowd seemed only to grow with each passing moment. Valhalla itself held its breath for the next strike. Clouds had gathered in gradually in the once-clear sky but, at last, a shaft of sunlight would break through, pooling down upon the congregated bodies and the two silhouettes within the ring. If that wasn't a call to arms from the heavens themselves, then one never could have existed.

LYLITH X HONOKA

LYLITH is attacking first.

RULES
  • Each spar is 3 rounds. Before typing out your post, place your dice roll in a post and then edit in your written post. If you are unsure how to roll dice, please see the fields below with each roll code!
  • The entrant with the highest roll totals at the end of 3 rounds is the winner. They will progress to the next stage of the tournament.
  • Maiming and death are disallowed UNLESS cleared with your thread partner first.
  • Each player has THREE DAYS to post for their turn or they will be forced to forfeit the fight. This is imposed to help keep things rolling.
  • Predetermined winners MAY be chosen, but it must be communicated and agreed upon by both parties in the fight. If you choose to do this, please denote that a winner has been predetermined, you do not have to signal who wins if you wish to maintain the suspense.

    Basic Warrior Skill: 1d6
    Specialist Warrior Skill: 1d8
    Expert Warrior Skill: 1d10

Only ONE modifier can be used

  • If you win a no-modifier fight and your next opponent DOES use modifiers, you will need to decide if you wish to continue or "forfeit" to your opponent. The same rule applies to off-screen fights. If your chosen preference is off-screen fights, you will need to decide between continuing on-screen or forfeiting to your next on-screen opponent.

  • Off-screen fights will roll three d5 in the dice channel in Discord and the one with the highest roll result is the winner. (Command to use: /r 3d5) If you wish to predetermine the winner between yourself and your opponent, that is your choice!

  • Please see the bracket document for a list of fights and progress.

Lylith could feel her anger fizzling and the interest in fighting was dying out, as well. Not long ago she didn’t want to stop, clinging to Valeska like a dog resource guarding their newest chew toy. But now, it was feeling tedious. The yearling grit her teeth, ready to be done with the entire event and festivities— but what would happen when she did stop? A twisting coil of sickening heat could be felt in her belly. Stopping would mean having to face reality again, wouldn’t it?

The girl sighed, her expression dull as she wondered what would be her next escape from sorrows. What was she to do when the tournament ended? Lylith blinked a few times, trying to ignore what was to come.

For the time being, she still had this distraction. Lylith ran forward, her jaws ajar and eager to snap in the other’s face.

And snap those jaws do. Honoka flinches, even if the teeth don't properly connect due to her ducking down. Her lack of training kicks in, and she flails outward in a useless attempt to push the other away. If there's anything this tournament is showing, it's that she mostly has a lot of dumb luck-- and a knack for knocking down taller wolves. But this girl is her height, and now her best strategy is off the table.

It seemed she and her opponent were doing the bare minimum, which was fine by all means. Right now it was less a use of releasing anger and more keeping her mind distracted from itself. Lylith could gradually feel the creeping of grief, a flash of silver fur matted with dried blood. The girl hadn’t wanted to think of it any longer.

A part of Lylith anticipated the other to injure her, giving her a reason to really stay immersed in this section of time and not face the rest of reality. But the woman before her barely seemed to have any spirit for all of this either.

A shrove from the other only resulted in an annoyed snap of her teeth towards Honoka once again.

The girl might have no steam, but Honoka finds her center. She needs to think about how to fight opponents on equal footing. Not all her enemies are gonna be big men that are easy to knock down. Lylith's teeth snap, and Honoka can only think about her dislike of others in her space. She snaps at Lylith this time, aiming for the ruff of her neck. Not to really do damage, but just to establish some form of hold. Would this work?

Teeth grab at her scruff, and all Lylith does is growl in response. There wasn’t much of a point in pushing so hard against someone that equally didn’t have her heart in it. The yearling began to briefly wonder why someone like her would join the festivities of violence and potential injury. Had there been some meaningful reason or was she like Valeska, joining for no reason beyond the courtesy of celebrating this “king” guy’s life?

Lylith reared her head upwards, trying to hit the other with the force of her movement.
