Hello! I’m adopting out a few of Lyra’s old crew ‘cause I think it would be good to have some more pirates running amok in Mythris >:3

I’ve got a few premade guys to choose from, you're also welcome to make your own crewmate from scratch!

NOTE: Lyra is a 3-3-3 character and her backstory with these sailors is tied to that. You ofc aren’t obligated to play 3-3-3, but you should be comfortable with others who do. It would probably be difficult to play a character with this background as anything less than a 1-2-2 rated toon. Read on only if you’re comfortable with that!

History of the Crew

Inspired by the Golden Age of Piracy; left vague whether they were remarkably dexterous wolves with opposable thumbs or actual humans. Primarily were raiding the trade routes of colonial empires. They sailed the Atlantic, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Barbary Coast, and especially the Indian Ocean — even as far up as Japan, and might have also touched the edge of Australia. Their escapades culminated in a bloody battle at sea which resulted in a sinking of their galleon, the Hail Mary, and the death or capture of most of the pirates, with many being ‘lost at sea.’

This is a HARD Crew

They have a history of participating in theft, torture, murder, kidnapping, ransom, SA, and slaving. Brawling, whoring, and ruthlessness were routine. But some may have only done so under duress, to avoid being killed themselves.

There are lots of ways they could have ended up on the ship (willing or not!)

• Resented the oppressive powers that were and sought freedom
  
• Didn’t think manning a trade ship paid enough, and mutinied
  
• Set sail as a licensed privateer or mercenary, but politics turned against them and they’re wanted now, so might as well carry on
  
• Needed money, couldn’t find work
  
• Accused of a crime with a death sentence, so they had no other option than to be an outlaw
  
• Pressed into sailing (forced to join the crew because of some particular skill i.e. navigating, medicine, on threat of death otherwise). Justice doesn’t care if you were threatened, it’s still a hanging offence!
  
• A slave who decided to sign on in order to reclaim freedom
  
• A prisoner, whore, or slave who had to fight to protect themselves when the ship was boarded
  
• A navy soldier from the attacking ship, trying to put down the renegades
  

Like any other arrival to Mythris, how much they remember and whether being reborn changes their trajectory in life is up to you! Where they go next is at your discretion, but I’d be thrilled to have reunions and re-crossed paths — both friendly and not-so-friendly!

Details depend on IC development so currently just a future goal, but Lyra likely will eventually start trying to build up a faction based on what she knows. A loose band of opportunists and mercenaries with sticky fingers — which might be of interest to your pirate!

Adoption Rules for Premades

• 20 posts required on Viv to receive full ownership. If you don’t register them within three months, or they go inactive before twenty posts, your application is forfeit and they return to me (Calico).
  
• If they go inactive after earning full ownership, I may ask you about rehoming the char, but once they’re yours, they’re yours as long as you want them. You are welcome to hold onto them for any reason.
  
• If you create or purchase art, it stays with the character, even if you lose ownership of the character.
  
• You can make tweaks to their design.
  

How to Apply:

• Not first-come, to give everyone a fair chance to see/make an app!
  
• DM me or comment below with an app. Include what your potential plans are for the character, ideas for their personality or motivations, and how special details listed on their sheet like scars or lost loves are incorporated into their history!
  
• You can also make playlists/moodboards/etc if you want!
  
• Currently planning to choose players around the first week of November OCTOBER which is the actual month following November, but may end earlier depending on interest
