The ranks among druids are not measures of hierarchy or control. Rather, they reflect a circle of equals, where each participant is an integral part of the whole. We cannot function without every piece of the circle, and each individual is honored as essential to the harmony of the community.
Leader: Toisiche “TAY-shuh”
The toisiche serves as the guide of the circle, gathering the voices and feedback of all and helping to shape decisions with the wisdom of the community. Though often seen as the head of the druidic circle, they walk alongside their fellow druids, requiring and honoring the counsel of all.
Hunter: Sealgair “SHAH-luh-kur”
The sealgair are entrusted with respectfully providing sustenance for the circle. They walk in harmony with nature, taking only what is needed, and honoring each life given through their actions, prayers, and gratitude.
Bard:
Storyteller - Seanchaidh “SHAN-ə-khee”
The seanchaidh are the keepers of the circle’s stories and histories. They recount the lessons of the past, ensuring the wisdom of those who came before guides the decisions of today.
Artist - Ealadair “AEL-aes-deh-r”
The ealadair foster the creative spirit within the circle, crafting art that honors nature and weaves the soul of all living things into their work. They are central to festivals, bringing beauty and reverence to every gathering.
Singer - Òranaiche “OR-uh-knee-shah”
Masters of song and dance, the òranaiche perform with voices and movement that pay homage to the forces of nature. Through their artistry, they express the circle’s reverence for the world around them.
Ovate:
Seer - Fiosaiche “FEE-oh-sa-ch”
The fiosaiche commune closely with the spirits of nature, listening to the whispers of the world and guiding the circle toward healing and harmony with the earth.
Healer - Lighiche “LEE-ih-chuh”
The lighiche are the caretakers of the body, versed in natural remedies and the ways of the earth, using the gifts of nature to bring healing and comfort to those in need.
Shaman - Seuman “SI-mən”
The seuman guide the spiritual life of the circle, leading rituals and festivals with knowledge of the old lore and the ways of honoring nature and the spirits.
Druid:
Sage - Gliceach “GLEE-ch-uh-ch”
Often among the elders of the circle, the gliceach cherish knowledge in all its forms. They seek wisdom continuously, offering guidance rooted in understanding to aid the circle’s decisions.
Craftsman - Ceàrdair “CAR-dee”
The ceàrdair are practical artists, crafting tools and items that bring comfort, function, and accessibility to daily life within the circle, ensuring the well-being of all.
Warrior: Mìlidh “MEEL-ee”
While druids are naturally peaceful and slow to rise to violence, the mìlidh understand that protection is sometimes necessary. They defend the circle and the balance of nature with determination, rising only when the need is true.
Newcomer: Saor “SEER”
New members of the circle, known as saor, are welcomed to explore all paths until they discover the role that aligns with their spirit. They are encouraged to learn, experience, and find where their gifts best serve the whole.
Child: Pàiste “PAW-ee-sh”
The pàiste are the next generation of druids, cherished and protected as they grow. They are guided gently in the ways of the circle, learning the rhythms and cycles of nature and the values of peace and reverence.
