Plant Discovery: Lamb's Tongue
Plantago lanceolata

Plant Name
Lamb's Tongue
Scientific Name
Plantago lanceolata
Brief Summary
Also known as Ribwort Plantain or Buckhorn, it's a small flower characterised by groups of long stems ended with oval brown head with smaller white flowers dotting the lower section. The leaves are closer to the ground, oval with lenght-wise ribbing. Lamb's Tongue prefers a wide variety of enviroment, from dry to more humid places, and is generally hardy, though prefers more windy, open and sparse places. Young leaves can be eaten safely and leaves as whole have a medicinal use, externally for treating wounds for infections, soothing skin irritations such as insect bites and internally to help aid against respiratory infections. Likely not the strongest remedy but popular thanks to it's widespread habitat.
