Cerulean had lost himself the night he put Vespertine to rest at the great ancestral tree, the sound of her pain muffled by choking on blood, and the way she looked at him like she knew this was meant to be done. It hurt the man so much so he lost sight of who he was, he could not bring himself to look at the pups, could not raise them himself, finding a wetnurse and someone to raise them when he could not bare the sight of their gold stained pelts.

Vespertine was his other half, his Sun during storms, and his hope in the darkest hours, and she was gone, he often visited her grave until one devastating day he found her burial spot dug up like it'd been dug from underneath. No traces of another wolf, and no traces of the body that was there months ago, hell even just days, ago!

So when he saw not even a bone, or a scent, he broke and hid in his den for days, not even the calls from his kids could drag him from his spiraling mentality. He slept on and off, reaching for a figure that hadn't been there in so long her scent was no longer in the moss, or in his fur, just the feathers of her raven that had long passed away without Vespertine's protection.

Tonight, he slept, slept longer than he had, too defeated to drag himself from his wallowing for his wife. He missed her so, and he desired her warmth again. So when he started to drop, his eyes shot wide and he yelped seeing fast approaching ground. Kicking at the air to try and stop it, as if that'd work, his eyes locking onto a gold figure on the ground, mellow, asleep even by the position, he want to shout, to tell them to MOVE but his throat caught when he was a distinctive mark on the top of the wolfs head, he knew instantly who it was.

He landed on the sun with a harsh impact, breath punched from his chest, leg twisted wrong as he heaved for his breath on top of a golden furred lady, eyes watering with numb pain as he stood up on shaky legs and staggered backwards, staring down at purple eyes much like his own, this was his Vespertine, his wife, his everything.

Vespertine..?

Vespertine didn't expect much to happen this day, it wasn't too cold, but never warm this north, and today she lay resting in an open area staring blankly at the sky in curious wonder of what was above the clouds. Her golden pelt had grown cleaner, more vibrant every time she washed herself in the stream, every time she'd been offered help, proper food, she'd been well taken care of to say the least, but the little pest still persisted and clouded her mind if she missed a dose of the white turtlehead.

Her frame lingered, curiously she rolled to her back and pawed at the air absentmindedly, tail swaying in a gentle wag as she let her eyes settle shut for a while, starting to drift into a brief sleep until she felt an impact knock the air from her lungs followed by a yelp of confusion.

When the wolf scrambled back, her eyes locked onto the face of a distant memory, clouded horribly as she stared silently at him, purple eyed, blue furred, she knew it somewhere just..couldn't quite place it through the fog in her mind clouded memories beyond a few months ago. So she stared, trying to connect the dots of who this possibly could be and then they spoke, and it all, clicked.

Cerulean.

He had found her at last, and if it weren't for the fact she was still rather confused and disoriented, she'd be buried in his fur like some leech.
