ORIGINS

keepers of truth and echoes, together we build what they tried to erase

In the beginning, magic flowed through every Elven being through the main elements of Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Each Elf was born with one of these natural elements, sometimes even more than one. However, while any elf may have the potential for all elemental magic, the four ruling families: Silvaereth, Thindrel, Valkaen, and Lunethys, enforced a strict suppression of non-family elemental magic. Their reasoning? To keep the peace. A lie created with the underlying threat of resonance overload. In an attempt to preserve the hierarchical order and power that these four families created, they created rules and laws to suppress and sever the other non-familial magic one might have.

However, there used to be a fifth family, known under the surname Aerindel, whose elemental magic did not stop at one or two, but could hold all the elements with ease. They were known as the Evermarked, for their ability to connect with both the light and the shadows of the world and the spirits of all. They were anchors that balanced the world, allowing all to share in the magical resonance that was the Elven birthright.

The four families saw Evermarked as too powerful and destabilizing to the power and tyranny they wished to impose on the world. Over generations, the Aerindel bloodline was hunted down, their magic absorbed, and their existence destroyed. Through carefully curated propaganda and carefully crafted rumors, the four families captured, exiled, and severed the magic associated with Evermarked individuals, leading the world to believe the fifth forgotten family was a danger rather than their salvation.

Codex of Values

▍ No Echo Silenced, No Voice Drowned — Too long have the voices of truth been distorted, cast aside, and forgotten. The wolves of the Haven will always be heard, and their messages valued.

▍Hunt as One. Share as One. Grieve as One.
— Conflict destroys peace and inflicts harm. The Haven works best when approached as a team. No sorrow is handled alone, no stomach remains empty when another is full, and no member is expected to bear a weight alone. The Haven strives for Unity and Harmony in all things divine and natural.

▍What was severed, we will seek to mend.
— Be kind to your neighbor, to the earth and nature, and to those you meet along the way. The Haven does not turn away from the broken, the lost, or the fractured. The Haven heals.

▍Speak truth or hold silence. Never Lie.
— Deceptive words have torn us apart in the past, allowing distrust to fester into a painful wound. The Haven chooses honesty or deliberate silence, but never deceit. Let the Haven support you until you're ready to speak the truth.

▍Hide nothing. Fear nothing. Abandon no one
— We reject what the Old World has taught us about division, fear, and control. The Haven stands as a testament to the fact that you will be accepted, flaws, scars, and wounds and all. Abandonment is treachery, loyalty is encouraged, and the bravery to lift another up is treasured.
▍Balanced is never forced. Make your own choices.
— True balance is based on freedom, not control. The Haven respects the various paths you may choose to walk, and the affinities one may be drawn to. No one is expected to conform to deny an aspect of themselves in the Haven. Instead, guidance is given, and support is handed willingly.

▍Howl for the missing and sing for the found.
— Our voice is power. For those who are lost, we will never stop searching. Grief and Joy are two halves of a shared breath, and we will sing for those who are found.

▍If we falter, we lift each other up.
— We are the earth that steadies, the wind that buoys, the fire that warms, and the water that soothes. We do not suffer alone. Strength is shared within the Haven, and we do not leave anyone behind.

▍You can always return.
— You may always choose to make your own path in the world. The Haven is not a place to confine or chain you down. You may leave, wander, and return. The Haven doors will always be open, as we never forget an Echo.

▍Listen before you lead.
— To lead is to listen. The Haven is expected to listen to the whispered echoes of others, to hear their grievances, their sorrow, and their calls to action. Every voice must be heard, and only then will the path of clarity be revealed.

❝ The Wind will lift. The Roots shall hold. The Water will heal. And the Flame will renew. But last of all, the Spirit will join them all.

Festivals

▍ Merenya-Ethuil
  • At the spring solstice, the Haven wolves gather at daybreak to welcome the world in song. For those who remember the old world, each elemental affinity plays a part. The earth wolves will stomp, the wind wolves will hum, the fire wolves will bark, and the water wolves will begin the howl. Together, they will sing in unison at sunrise.
  • During the day, the Haven wolves will plant a token into the earth (a seed, a flower, a bone, etc.) and share an intention they wish to come to fruition in the following season.
  • In the afternoon, the group begins a hunt to prepare for an evening feast.
  • In the evening, a feast is had where members share stories, play games, and weave flowers and berries into their fur.

▍Summer Festival Name
  • ✶ Shared stories
  • ✶ Games
  • ✶ Group Hunt
  • ✶ Purpose: Bring the pack together. Everyone is valued. Harmony.

▍Autumn Festival Name
  • Each wolf hunts something down. Gives the meal they caught to their neighbor and so forth. Eat together as a pack with some fermented berries and other fun party elements.
  • When the moon is high in the sky, everyone runs into the forest and buries something from their gifted kill to the earth (bones, fur, nails, feathers, etc).

▍Winter Festival Name
  • ✶ Occurs on the longest night
  • ✶ Pack participates in Trades, each wolf giving someone else a token of their choosing.
  • ✶ They stay awake till morning to watch the sunrise and all participate in a howl of renewal.
▍Joining Ritual
— The Chamber of Echoes
  • Words
▍Shadow Rituals
— Echo Weaving
  • There is power in the words you speak, but most importantly, the echoes of hurt you choose release. It is believed and practiced by the wolves of the Haven that to release past hurts, you must first speak them out loud. An intimate ritual of give and take, a wolf must release something dear to them to mend the light and dark back together after facing their hurt. Blood is often given to the earth in return for the release of their grief and their returning light. Often practiced with a medic or record keeper in times of grief, trauma or suffering.

▍If we falter, we lift each other up.
— We are the earth that steadies, the wind that buoys, the fire that warms, and the water that soothes. We do not suffer alone. Strength is shared within the Haven, and we do not leave anyone behind.

▍The Release
— New Moon Ritual
  • It is practiced by the Haven that on the New Moon, when the sky is darkest, you must release old parts of yourself that no longer serve you. Here, the pack comes together, shares what they might have hidden or what they wish to release, and the pack howls in unison.

▍Funeral Rites
— The Final Howl
  • A grave will be dug beneath a sacred tree, and the fallen will be buried beneath it.
  • A vigil will be held throughout the night for the fallen. At daybreak, the pack will share a unified howl, believed to help their fallen friend cross over through the veil.
— A Feast of Echoes
  • The following morning, the pack will hunt the Fallen's favorite meals. In the evening, the pack will come together and feast, sharing stories of the fallen, and leaving tokens for their friend at the burial site.
