Days had bled into weeks and into months and Champion still yet blamed herself. She'd done her best to grieve and move on and be the best she could be for her mate, but it was hard. Loss was one thing, but a permanent loss was something else. She was striking out more alone today, trying to clear her head, pushing forward into unknown terrain. They'd agreed to go north, right? May as well go north. Whatever it held in store. Most days, she thought of the family Sólja had asked her about. It was something Champion was determined to do now. Though, the logistics of it made her skin crawl.

Her blue gaze focused on the terrain around her, of the sof crimson expanse and the way the sun beat down on it. She felt exposed, but weirdly safe at the same time. Everything bad that had happened to her had been in enclosed spaces. Forests, dens, frozen lakes. This was not scary. If anything, it reminded her of the way she and Sólja had traveled together before, across a valley of green instead of red.

Feeling the prickle of pollen, her face scrunched, making the scar across her face stand out a little more. Of course she had scars from the bear. The rest of her body was fucked up, why wouldn't her face be? A huff came, before she took in a deep breath through her nose.

There was food here, somewhere. Maybe she'd scout it out.

Sólja is welcome in any of Champ's threads at any time
