Caan drifted through darkness. The world of dreams was an illusive one, but it would not be long before imagined worlds danced behind his eyelids. The dreams were the boy's only refuge from the horrid fracture that shattered his family. A gentle escape that was always there whenever he would close his eyes. And when he could not find his dreams? He still remained in the dark. It was a familiar place, for he had been born from it.
Sired by Sun Eater. Born to Star Eater.
He was a brand new star forged from their union, shiny and new. Only shortly after had he been ruined.
A broken star. A dim light all alone in the night sky. That is what the boy was now.
With his eyes closed to the world around him, once again did Caan fall to the earth. One that was not his own.
For the second time in his life, Caan opened his eyes for the first time. He was greeted by the towering forms of evergreens. Pines, firs, spruce, all stood mighty in the forest. Their boughs crossing in the fierce wind, the snow that decorated their branches falling to the forest floor in turn. The wind howled against the wooden fortress, only breeching the forest in low drafts snaking along the floor.
A shiver ran down the boy's spine. Lump lodging in his throat as he drew himself to his feet. His tail hung low between his hocks, his ears flattened. Whale-eyed, the boy drew his glacial gaze through the shadows.
Where was his mother?
