So when he saw Valeska, Dimitri’s mother, at the vision...he tailed her, keeping his distance at first, making sure Wardruna wasn't near before he would get closer.

The yearling waited...and waited, thinking, always thinking. Could he just ask Dimitri? Probably, maybe, but he didn't really want to confront them again just yet. So....he went for it, once the sun hit it's peak in the sky, coming out of the woodworks with a woof to announce himself so he hopefully wouldn't startle the old woman. There was absolutely a better way he could have started this, but he didn't want to, so!

No one could discern for certain whether or not Valeska was actually aware of her surroundings. She was very good at being willfully ignorant, and she excelled in pretending many of the problems in her day-to-day simply did not exist, and so far for the last six - almost seven? - years it had worked out quite well for her. Few things surprised the silver woman at this stage of her life, and she felt prepared for just about anything.

Vitus had no way of knowing if she could detect his presence. The High Priestess was humming a lively tune, trotting ahead with her usual vigor despite the fresh wound at the base of her tail; another problem that was better to ignore.

Valeska came to a stop, bending down to take a whiff of something in the grass - a stale hint of hare, maybe - her stomach growled -

Now, to be fair, she did think the boy looked familiar. His coat coloring was reminiscent of Dimitri and Siobhan, but there were infinite wolves in this strange land, and her thoughts did not progress beyond that single acknowledgement. None of her children would ever have offspring without telling her, of course.
Why should she be concerned?

Vitus startled briefly when the woman jumped in surprise, so much for not giving her a fright...maybe he should have stepped louder before barking.

Her heart was still pounding.

As she waited for the shock of adrenaline to pass, Vitus seemed to be building up to something, albeit in a very strange way. He didn't appear nervous, exactly - perhaps pensive, maybe calculating as he hesitated slightly between each word. Truthfully she knew nothing about the boy, only that he belonged to the frosty mountains of Northfall and probably got to see her son Alder from time to time.

Maybe they were friends? Oh! That must be what this was about; surely he had news of Alder.

Valeska smiled reflexively, taking a seat and leaning in closer to better absorb the gossip.

She stayed perfectly frozen.

Some moments passed between the pair as they remained silently locked in place, Vitus staring back with wide, owlish eyes, waiting for a reaction - any reaction - while Valeska held her breath.

He continued to watch her, his expression deadly serious.

The quietness was awkward, as he waited for her reaction, expectantly waiting for...something, with his big baby blues looking into her golds while the gears turned in her head.

Her face twisted into several different expressions as she processed this revelation and quickly experienced two years' worth of reactions in just a few seconds. Dimitri. Wardruna. That gods-damned arranged marriage Harper had conspired over without her consent. Dimitri, somehow fumbling that ball even worse than how it had been passed to him. Acting... promiscuous. Enraging Northfall. Breaking both Wardruna's heart, and her dignity.

Valeska envisioned breaking the unknown woman's neck for the briefest of moments, but then she looked back at Vitus and thought, 'He looks so much like my Dimitri. If not for her indiscriminate passion, I would not be having this conversation.'

That explains very much, was all she said. Another long moment of silence followed, and she listened to the sound of the wind as the knowledge settled within her.

Well, I suppose that makes you my grandson, and I have been a grandmother for a much longer time than I thought. Her eyes suddenly brightened considerably, and just like that, all dark thoughts were dismissed and she left the past thoroughly behind. Whatever Dimitri had done or why, it didn't matter now; bridges had been mended, the packs had moved on with their lives, and now she got to meet her very first grandchild in the flesh.
