Godsmouth

Summary
Once a dying cult abandoned by the gods who doomed them, Godsmouth is now a refuge for outcasts and misfits. They seek to reclaim their name in this new world and become a true sanctuary: a place of rest and recovery, where all who live within are free to determine their own future.

OVERVIEW
Broken down and left in disarray, remnants of the past are now overgrown and left to the elements as even the trees themselves work to shroud the forgotten ruin within their roots. The halls and rooms of this place are empty, devoid of all signs of life except that which was built so many centuries ago - and those who enter its walls now. A low fog drifts lazily through the outer courtyard, swirling playfully near any who disturb it.

Cradled along the coast of the Lake’s Halo in the southern portion of the map, Godsmouth’s geography takes inspiration from the Ozark River Valley, as well as parts of Louisiana. The area is home to a cave network, hot springs, quartz, diamonds, and a myriad of lush growth despite the rocky soil.

Common
As the name suggests, Common is the most regularly spoken language of Mythris. While almost every sentient creature on the continent know at least a word or two, the majority are fluent.

Egyptian & Arabic
Introduced from the peoples of Akashingo, Satriya, and Muat Riya, it is not uncommon for the residents of Godsmouth to have at least a passing understanding of the languages, even if they are not fluent themselves.

Latin
Studied for prayer and rituals in Old Godsmouth, Latin was used as the primary language spoken between higherups when conveying messages that were not meant for the laypeoples. By extension, some residents of Godsmouth can speak it fluently, and might also speak (or have an understanding of) other Latin based languages.

Due to the nature of the group, as well as its mixed population, Godsmouth does not recognize any one religion as official. However, there is a designated space of worship within the Strand for use as needed by those visiting, or living within the ruins. Currently, there are shrines to several different deities, including most of the Egyptian Pantheon, with the exception of Mafdet.

History stuff in here!

The Temple

The ruin for which The Strand is named. Once a grand monastery, now crumbling as nature reclaims it. Honeysuckle vines climb the stone, and thorny, wild blackberry bushes line the outer walls. Oak and pine are the most common trees found within the Temple's walls, but several cottonwoods and sugar maples dot the complex as well.

The Fountain

A large columned fountain at the entrance of the temple; well cared for, yet retains the overgrowth for which the Strand is named. The columns support thick curtains of ivy, and fireflies are known to dance on the water in the warmer months.

The Garden of Eyes

At the center of the complex is a large garden surrounded by waterways. Once home to a tower, now, only one wall remains. A massive stained-glass window of an eye decorates the upper portion of this wall, large enough for a wolf to curl up and sleep on the pupil. The glass is carefully positioned so that the eye illuminates at midnight and at midday.

The Bathhouse

As the walls surrounding the building are crumbling, a section of the Bathhouse makes up the eastern "wall" of the Temple. This huge chamber hosts several heated pools used for bathing; as well as a tranquil central pool lined with tiles that were once painted a vibrant green; now, age and sun exposure have turned them a soft, mossy color.
