Welcome to Vivarium, a world between planes! No one is sure where this world exists nor in what era, but it has already ended up heavily populated by an array of creatures. Are you ready to “wake” in the world of Vivarium and explore its mysterious existence?
Since you're new here we suggest going over our Guidebook first to understand our game and make sure our guidelines work for you. If you've decided you'd like to take a deeper dive into our world perhaps check out our

and get to know some of our community members. You'll find some links below that might be useful for you as a guest right now though!
Unlike in the wild, Vivarium’s breeding season is all year round, for wolves and beasts alike. Putting your character into heat is entirely up to each individual player. However, we do have a few rules and requirements needed before your character can participate in conception. Keep in mind that the following requirements, expectations, rules, and tree use are in regards to wolves and beasts alike.
It’s also important to note that companions, as an NPC, cannot breed. However, on the rare occasion a beast can breed with another NPC beast off-screen (as we understand it can be difficult to find a similar species of beast being played).
Requirements
If you would like your character to bring a litter into this world, then please make sure all the requirements are met!
Characters must be at least 1 year and 6 months old
Characters cannot be older than 10 years old
All character players involved must consent to the litter being created
There must be a thread that proves conception, this can be simply indicating it happens off-screen or alluding they spend time together. Players can backdate this thread up to one week. (Must have four posts minimum).
Rules
When it comes to conception and pregnancy, there are a few rules we enforce. These rules are primarily in place to prevent an unrealistic amount of litters to be born to the same characters.
If a character loses their pregnancy, they must wait a minimum of three months before being able to conceive again.
Characters that carry a successful pregnancy must wait one full year from the time of their last conception.
Characters who turn 10 years of age can no longer conceive.
If a pregnant character leaves the game or falls inactive, the pregnancy will be lost. (Depending on the situation, please reach out to staff to discuss things further)
Expectations
Let’s take a look at the many things you can possibly expect and potentially prepare for! Pregnancy, birth, and all things litter-related differ between characters.
Characters between 2 years and 8 years can have anywhere from 1-8 in a litter
Characters younger than 2 years or older than 8 years can have anywhere from 1-3 in a litter.
Characters younger than 2 years or older than 8 years will have higher chances of early death, labor complications, and tough recovery
Characters younger than 2 years or older than 8 years are likely to have a more difficult pregnancy, along with a higher chance of premature birth
Characters younger than 2 years or older than 8 years that have a full litter of 3, may choose a long-term or short-term illness for 1 baby
Pregnancy usually lasts between 50 to 75 days long (also applies to beasts!)
Characters part of a group/pack may face backlash or IC consequences for conceiving, this will depend on if the leader or group has rules regarding breeding
If a parent of the litter has a mutation, there is a chance for it to be passed down. Parent players can assign up to 3 mutations per baby.

The Magic Tree
The Lake’s Halo is a special place in Mythris, it is here that the Magic Tree grows. No one really knows the name of this tree, nor its origin, but it is capable of fulfilling impossible tasks. It gives litters to those that are unable to have one themselves. This can be: same-sex pairs, cross species pairs, infertile characters, asexual characters, and characters unable to reproduce due to trauma. The Magic Tree utilizes the life essence of the users to help create new life/children. As a result, those of less-than-ideal ages will face potential downfalls.
For characters that do not have the ability to produce milk nor a feeding surrogate, there is a solution. The Magic Tree is surrounded by a useful (and otherworldly) herb known as the Milk Flower. These flowers are able to produce a milk substitute for any species!
Requirements
To secure your litter, there are a few extra in-character steps that everyone must follow. Please read both the OOC and IC needs for a successful experience with the Magic Tree.
Cross-Species Guidelines
Another special feature we offer on Vivarium is the ability to cross breed between species! This does come with a few rules, but overall it’s a great way for cross species characters to grow their family.
Rules
The rules for the Magic Tree are relatively similar to the rules for natural breeding. Please be sure to read them if you plan to utilize the tree!
Expectations
While those that use the Magic Tree will not get to experience the joy and discomfort of a natural pregnancy and birth, their litter will still be affected by them. Be sure to understand the expectations of a Tree litter.
