Injuries

While it can be fun to spice things in-character by allowing your character to get injured, we ask that you stay close to realism! This small guide will help give you a general idea of what consequences you may face.

Minor

A minor injury may be annoying, but you can push through and likely function close to normal. You may get tired quicker, depending on where the injury is, but it doesn’t really bother you. Travel is usually unimpeded by these minuscule injuries. You will often feel better in a few days to a week.

Examples

  • Bruises
  • Superficial Abrasions
  • Muscle Cramps
  • A mostly healed moderate injury

  • Moderate

Okay, it’s getting pretty tough to ignore these injuries, no matter how hard you try. You are finding it more difficult to do simple tasks, like hunting or traversing uneven terrain. Traveling will be delayed quite a bit, taking you twice as long to get places. You will need more rest or risk worsening the injury. You will often feel better in a few weeks.

    Examples

  • Sprain
  • Pulled muscles
  • Broken Toe
  • Deep laceration
  • Bruised bone or uscle bruises with swelling
  • Dislocated limb
  • A mostly healed severe injury
  • Postnatal/Postpartum (travel unadvised for at least 1 week)

  • Severe

GET BACK IN BED. You cannot travel, and will only be able to do the bare minimum activities. It would be a good idea to befriend some sort of herbalist, or at least someone that is capable of keeping you fed and dosing you with pain relievers. You will have to heavily rely on others for the time being. You will often feel better in a couple months.

    Examples

  • Broken limb
  • Broken ribs
  • Broken toe
  • Recent amputation
  • Muscle tear
  • Slipped disc
  • Flesh wound
  • Birthing complications
